ok so.. unless you’ve been hiding under a rock in 2017, you’ve noticed that shades of pink, and blush are EVERYWHERE. it doesn’t matter what brand it is, a shade of millennial pink is present. a few years ago, my nose would have been as far up in the air as it could possibly go.. but now, i’m all for it. so what caused this sudden change in myself, and in the industry wide push to pink? how do colors start to trend? how is this predicted? well, it’s funny you should ask! what most people do not realize about trend forecasting is that it’s all about US!!! that’s right, we cause it, along with previous trends, high fashion, the arts, and culture.
so let’s think back to the last presidential campaign (i know it’s still cringe-worthy), as we all heard the news of who the potential candidates may be; as females, there was hope. there was unity as women, there was girl power! when hilary campaigned, despite our political views, women felt the glimmer of equality in the near future, women felt proud. as the election took a dramatic turn, and women’s rights were challenged, millions of women nationally rioted for power of their bodies, and their ability to choose. unfortunately, we are still struggling with women’s rights, and it is more important than ever to show our femininity, voice, and power of unity in any way that we can. shades of pink, have been, and will always be an identifying color for women, so with that i ask you to rock it proudly.
