Q: What was your favorite piece that you wore on your special day + why?
A: Definitely my dress! I mean what captures the magical desert wind better than long fringe detail?!
Q: When preparing for your wedding, were you looking for specific jewelry to finish your outfit? If so, why did you choose Both Sides Bridal and why do you feel like it completed your vision?
A: I am so fussy! Like most brides, I wanted everything to be perfect on such a special day. I wanted statement pieces that reflected the desert, but also ones that wouldn't clash with my dress, which is a statement on its own. I love all the pieces stocked at Both Sides Bridal and love supporting labels that offer something a little more unique and quirky.
Q: How did you find the brand and what was it that made you feel connected to it?
A: I actually found Both Sides Bridal whilst scrolling through Instagram one night. I had purchased two pairs of earrings prior from an online store and I really just was not happy with buying something that is mass produced. I loved that my earrings had the crescent moon shape and white stones. There is nothing quite as amazing as watching the moon rise in Palm Springs after the sun goes down over those rediciously high mountain ranges.
Q: Alongside your dress, what was it about this jewelry that made you feel special?
A: The customer service and communication from the girls at Both Sides Bridal. If I had questions I wasn't just getting a generic response from an automated email, they were genuine heart felt responses.
Q: If someone else was looking to finish their wedding look would you recommend Both Sides Bridal and/or s+s, and why?
A: Definitely, YES! Don't buy from a chain store for such a special day! You are spending money on the perfect dress, take the time to find the perfect accessories to compliment it!
Q: What vibe were you going for on your wedding day?
A: Desert boho of course! We eloped in Palm Springs and I wanted the vibe to be just as wild as the desert herself! Fringe dress, snakeskin boots (faux of course) and killer accessories from s+s!
Q: Give us a glimpse into your special day! Do you have a favorite memory?
A: Our day was super relaxed. We woke up and actually went to the gym! We were staying at The Ace Hotel and Swim Club in Palm Springs and after flying to the US from Australia it was the perfect way to de-stress. After that we went to the store to get supplies for the day (water, beer, etc.) because you need to stay hydrated on such a big day! I got a blow dry at a local hair salon and after that we sort of just relaxed! The photographer arrived at 3pm to take some 'getting ready snaps' and shots around the hotel and before we knew it, it was time for us to go get married!
Q: How did you are your husband meet?
A: We actually knew each other before we started dating! As friends. We went to a Taylor Swift concert together as friends and it kind of just grew from there :)
Q: Looking back as a bride, what would you recommend to a bride to be about her big day?
A: Do NOT expect everything to go as planned! Embrace the things that don't go as planned. It was about 45 degrees (113 for you guys in the US) on our wedding day and we lost the keys to our car and sort of got stranded in the desert for about half an hour after our ceremony HAHAHA! I would not change any of this!
Also we didn't even know our ceremony location until we arrived on the day! We left everything up to our amazing celebrant and photographer who went location scouting for us the day before.
Q: What was your wedding planning like?
A: It was definitely a very laid back day! But let me tell you, planning an elopement is definitely not easy when you live in another country! This is all part of the fun though!
I let Victoria our celebrant choose my bouquet! She is also a florist. I sent her some images of my dress a few days before our wedding and asked her to make something she felt would work and it definitely did work!
Q: Your dress is AMAZING. TELL US EVERYTHING ABOUT IT! Was it the first one you tried on?
A: OMG it is so amazing! Some brides sell their dress after they get married, but I think I will hold onto this treasure FOREVER! It actually was not the first dress I tried on and to be honest I had seen images of it online and I specifically did not want to try it on when I went to my appointment. I love everything about Rue De Sine and their dresses. I actually envisioned either a full on glittery dress or a shite boho style dress. I was a little worried when I had tried on a fair few dresses and had not yet had the feeling of, "yep this is the one."
Then my mum made me try on the amazing Ziggy gown and there was no going back. I fell in love instantly.
